Film: Contemporáneos en línea: El mar nos mira de lejos/The Sea Looks at Us from Afar

September 11, 2020

8 pm (available for 48 hours)
Instituto Cervantes Vimeo Channel: https://vimeo.com/institutocervantes

Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque presents Contemporáneos en línea, an online showcase of recent work by young, independent Spanish filmmakers. The program brings together two feature films and two documentaries, demonstrating the creative coexistence of these genres in contemporary cinematography. It is presented in collaboration with the National Hispanic Cultural Center as part of the Bank of America Free Film Series.

El mar nos mira de lejos is based on the legend of an ancient and forgotten civilization, lying buried under vast dunes in southern Spain. For more than a century, archaeologists and adventurers have sought traces of its former inhabitants; today, only a few men, ignorant of the myths and romantic illusions surrounding the area and barely visible among the sands, live in this solitary place facing the sea. 2017; directed by Manuel Muñoz Rivas; Spanish with English subtitles; 93 minutes; rated G.
