5:30 pm- Pre-film reception in Salón Ortega 7:00 pm- Screening begins in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre Join us as we celebrate Hector Galán, the first documentary filmmaker to be inducted into the prestigious Texas Film Hall of Fame, to cap off our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration! Día de Familia: Día de los Muertos

11:00 am to 3:00 pm The spirit of Día de los Muertos comes alive at our next Día de Familia! Decorate sugar skulls, craft a mini-ofrenda and marigolds, get your face painted, and contribute to our community ofrenda while you enjoy music and dance traditions of Día de los Muertos. Oralidad Festival: Enrique Lamadrid & Susana Rivera

4:00 pm Authors and University of New Mexico professors Dr. Enrique Lamadrid and Dr. Susana Rivera present the latest collection of poems by E.A. "Tony" Mares: Reflections through the Convex Mirror of Time: Poems in Remembrance of the Spanish Civil War. They will be joined at the event by the four poets who wrote the back cover texts for this volume: Levi Romero, Demetria Martinez, Gary Brower, and Michael Thomas. Instituto Cervantes, AMP Concerts, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center present the second edition of the Oralidad Festival. (more...)

Business Basics for Visual Artists

1:00 to 5:00 pm Business Basics for Visual Artists is an afternoon forum of information sharing & networking for Visual Artists. NHCC will offer three presentations from local art professionals who will provide artists with a sampling of opportunities with the City of Albuquerque, an understanding of how to successfully navigate the challenges of artist contracts and grant writing.
