Festival Flamenco Internacional de Alburquerque, celebrating its 29th anniversary this year, opens with Exposición Flamenca and New Mexico True Fiesta de Apertura—free events for the entire family on the NHCC’s Plaza Mayor. This celebratory start to the festival, presented by New Mexico True and the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, begins with Exposición Flamenca, a showcase of flamenco artists and schools from around the world. The evening culminates in a concert by Mayte Martín, a cantaora, bolero singer, and composer from Barcelona who is widely recognized as one of the most important flamenco voices of her generation.
