Call for Photos for Qué Chola Photo Board (Deadline: March 8)

February 13, 2019 - March 8, 2019

Qué Chola is an art exhibition at the NHCC Art Museum in Albuquerque, N.M., that features cholas and homegirls in art and pop culture. The artworks celebrate her and her unique style as symbols of strength, power, and resilience. The exhibition opens on March 8, 2019 and runs through August 4, 2019.

Many people within our communities have friends and family donned the Chola look and maybe we did ourselves. The Qué Chola photo board is an opportunity to honor the Cholas in our lives, past and present, by sharing photos of homegirls showing off their style and pride.

If you have a photo you’d like included on the photo board, please:

  • Scan and email them to: quecholaphotos@gmail.com
  • Photocopy and mail them to: Jadira Gurulé, National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, 1701 4th St. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102

Photos that arrive before March 8, 2019 will be on display for the opening reception but we will continue to accept photos throughout the exhibit.

All photos must be scanned or photo copied as they will not be returned at the close of the exhibition. Photos will be displayed at the discretion of museum staff and may be rotated out to accommodate other photos. Your submission of a photo implies consent for the NHCC to display the photo in the museum and on social media as well as our website. Additionally, the public will be allowed to photograph the photo display.
