During WEEK ONE (June 3-7) Voces students tour the NHCC’s art museum’s inspiring new exhibit “Qué Chola” and our breathtaking 4,000 square foot fresco, “Mundos de Mestizaje.”  Voces writers write in response to what they see, think and feel.  Then mural artist Helen Atkins takes the teens through visioning and creating a  mural at the NHCC. #quechola #muralart #writingislife #voces2019 #keepwriting

It’s all about monologues in WEEK TWO (June 10-14). Playwright Monica Sanchez will be the guest instructor who will help Voces writers create their own monologues and rehearse them for staged readings. #ilovemonolgue  #writingislife #voces2019 #keepwriting

ABQ Poet Laureate Michelle Otero will join Voces students in WEEK THREE (June 17-22) for a Bosque walk and to provide training for Voces teens in how to engage the elderly in poetry.  Voces writers also tour the NHCC’s Braceros exhibit and create a devised dance movement piece with the students from Manos under the guidance of artist-in-residence Yvonne Montoya and Safos Dance Theater. This week ends with a very cool Saturday, 2 pm performance and FLASH MOB with audience, led by Voces and Safos. @safosdance #dancedance #poetry #writingislife #voces2019 #keepwriting

Chapbooks will be produced to give as gifts and to sell at the reading. Writers will also be finishing their prose and poetry for a Voces publication, which will be published in July.  For all four weeks, Voces writers receive feedback about their writing from their peers and guest writers. #publishedauthor #writingislife #voces2019 #keepwriting
