Join Dr. Joseph Sanchez author, historian and former Director of the Petro glyph National Monument as he presents six consecutive lectures on New Mexico History entitled “Historical Dialogues: New Mexicans and the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, 1598-1692.”

The topic of the first lecture is “Prelude to Empire; The Development of Spanish and Mexican Archives.  A.  European Sovereignty, Migration, and Native American Territoriality.  1. Documentary Cartographical Collections and Bibliography of Spanish North America.  2. Cartography of Onate’s Exploration of the Great Plains and Miguel’s Map 1601.  3. The Archivo General de Indias and Early Exploration of the Tierra Adentro, 1540-1593.
