Latin Dance for Seniors
Salón Ortega 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM1:30 – 3:30 pm Latin Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of Latin dance lessons taught by instructor Carlota Silva. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Latin Dance for Seniors is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program which provides a free multidisciplinary arts programs for seniors. A free Community Event, generously supported by AARP. Mexican Independence Day Celebration in partnership with the Mexican Consul
Patio | Fountain Courtyard 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States5:30 – 7:30 pm In collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is proud to host a celebration of Mexican Independence Day featuring vendors, dancing, and much more! On Sept. 12, the Center will be joined by the Consulate of Mexico providing a formal flag unveiling and the traditional Grito, a celebration announcement of independence. Exhibit Reception: Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México
5:00 - 7:00 pm Join us for a free public reception celebrating the opening of Rendered Presence: Artistas de Nuevo México. Guest curated by Vicente Telles, the exhibition explores artworks by artists living and working throughout New Mexico. Many of the artworks are figurative and created on a scale that challenges limited understandings of New Mexican art. In their own way, each artist explores identity and the self, art history, and the expanse of Hispanic, Chicana/o/x, and Latina/o/x contemporary art. Latinx Games Festival 2024
NHCC Campus 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NMSession Times TBD Latinx Games Festival is a celebration of Gaming, Latino Culture and Latin American Game Development! Join us In-Person at the National Cultural Hispanic Center from September 20th - September 22th, 2024. Featuring insightful panels, playable Latino made video games, career advancement opportunities, the first ever Latino Games Exhibition, and The Latinx Game Awards, this festival connects our community to the video game industry and plants the seeds for a culturally richer, more mature video game industry. Colcha Community Stitch A-Long
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM9:30 am in-person 10:30 am Zoom – cancelled for September, please check back next month Our Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette is taking September off.
