Summer Institute Performances: Voces

7 pm The NHCC’s Summer Institutes—Circo Latino, the Manoa Project, and Voces—are presenting performances based on the exhibit The House on Mango Street:  Artists Interpret Community and Sandra Cisneros’ book of the same name. Join Voces for a stirring performance inspired by themes of family, community, identity, and home—appropriate for all ages.  Students from the Voces writing program will perform selected pieces from their month of intensive writing, exploring their own inner voices as well as the themes from the exhibit and novel. 10:30 am -- 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on Saturday mornings during June, July, and half of August, from 10:30 am to noon. Families can come to the Center for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the bosque, and story times in the Center’s library. For Vamos al Museo, Casas de Papel, on August 6th, we will return to the Art Museum’s exhibit The House on Mango Street: Artists Interpret Community and explore architecture, dome trusses, and columns.  (more...)
