Each year the NHCC works with schools and community organizations to host an Ofrenda (altar) Installation, in celebration of Día de los Muertos. The deadline to submit for participation is September 19.
In September, the Bank of America Free Thursday Film Series showcases the ¡Globalquerque! International Cinema Series, presented in partnership with ¡Globalquerque!, New Mexico’s Fourteenth Celebration of World Music and Culture, returning to the NHCC on September 21 & 22. Films in the series are from countries whose artists are represented in this year’s festival.

Following the ousting of former president Morsi from power and a day of violent riots, dozens of demonstrators with diverse political and religious convictions are locked together in a patrol wagon. Come…. Experience the Miracle! Awaken your heart to the true Spirit of Christmas in dance, as The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company presents the 34th season of its Bravos Award-winning holiday production, Christmas Joy. Over fifty classically trained dancers will once again inspire audiences with a repertoire of moving and inspirational classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance performances choreographed to traditional and contemporary Christmas music.
A moving and uplifting production, Christmas Joy has become an Albuquerque holiday tradition. In 1999, members of the Albuquerque Arts Alliance conferred the Bravos Award for Dance Excellence on The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company. Additionally, in 2012, Christmas Joy was given the Albuquerque Community Live Art and Performance Service (Q-Claps) Applause Award for favorite performance.

The 5th Annual South American Folk Festival seeks to unite Albuquerque’s South American community in a day of cultural experience and connection through music, dance, and food. In addition to food vendors from participating countries, the festival will feature traditional dancers representing Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and/or Ecuador. A headlining salsa band or solo artist will also be featured, along with local musicians. Added attractions for the entire family include children’s art workshops and opportunities for souvenir photos featuring the festival banner.
