This talk by Javier Benavidez, long-time community organizer in Albuquerque, is part of educational programming related to People Powered: New Mexicans and Social Movements. Javier works works in race-forward, social justice-oriented progressive causes aimed at reversing New Mexico’s long history of racism, colonization, and exploitation. His background includes directing the Southwest Organizing Project and also serving as speech writer for then-Congressman (now U.S. Senator) Martin Heinrich.
