Semana Cervantina / Cervantes Week

April 17, 2017 - April 21, 2017

During Cervantes Week, we will commemorate one of the most universally acclaimed figures of Spanish language and culture, Miguel de Cervantes. This event is organized by Instituto Cervantes-Albuquerque in collaboration with the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the Spanish Resource Center, and the Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque.

La Semana Cervantina es un espacio en el que vamos a conmemorar una de las figuras más representativas de la lengua y cultura españolas, Miguel de Cervantes. Organizado por el Instituto Cervantes de Albuquerque en colaboración con el National Hispanic Cultural Center, el Spanish Resource y el Consulado de México.

Come hear a reading of a passage of the first chapter of Don Quixote in different languages, including Spanish, Catalan, Basque, Galician, Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian, Hebrew, Arab, Chinese, Hindi, Russian, and Vietnamese.

Lectura de pasajes del capítulo primero de El Quijote en lenguas diferentes como español, catalán, vasco, gallego, portugués, inglés, francés, alemán, italiano, hebreo, árabe, chino, hindi, ruso y vietnamita.

“Cuentistas 2017”
2:30 pm to 3:45 pm – High School Literary Contest

This literary contest, now in its 13th year, is designed for New Mexican middle and high school students to write their own stories on any topic. There are categories for Spanish speakers and non-Spanish speakers, both in grades 6 through 12.

Concurso literario en su 13º edición, dedicado a estudiantes nuevo mejicanos de primaria y secundaria que quieran expresar sus propias historias. Hay una categoría para hispanohablantes y otra para aquellos para los que el español no sea su lengua nativa; ambos en niveles de sexto a décimo-segundo.
