“¡Mira! Nuestra Arquitectura: An Architectural Journey” An architectural history of the NHCC, in celebration of our 20th anniversary. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the History and Literary Arts program presents “¡Mira! Nuestra Arquitectura: An Architectural Journey,” an architectural history of the Center’s past, present and future. This exhibit consists of text, sketch drawings, blueprints, maps, and photographs exploring Hispanic/Latinx culture and heritage as expressed through the buildings and landscape of the Center. NHCC Children’s Bilingual Book Festival

All events at the NHCC through April 30, 2020 have been cancelled / postponed. Please call the NHCC at 505-246-2261 for more information. 9 am to 5 pm The Children's Bilingual Book Festival takes place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) in April of each year and features K-6 books in Spanish and English and Native Languages in English. There are author readings, a book fair, student storytelling, poetry performances, workshops for teachers and parents, and art and book-related activities for all ages, including teens. 1st Annual National Hispanic Cultural Center History Festival

In 2020, we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the completion of the famous buon fresco, Mundos de Mestizaje, created by Frederico Vigil in the National Hispanic Cultural Center Torreón. The first annual NHCC History Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, February 21-22, 2020, and we invite you to join us celebrating Hispanic and Latinx history with this year's theme, "Mundos de Mestizaje."All festival events will respond to and engage with the fresco, allowing us to explore Hispanic/Latinx history through the cross-cultural, transnational, and multidisciplinary influences (more...)

El Voto Femenino: Sufragistas Latinas luchando por el derecho al voto

The National Hispanic Cultural Center’s History and Literary Arts Program presents a new exhibit, “El voto femenino: Sufragistas Latinas luchando por el derecho al voto/The Women’s Vote: Latina Suffragists who Fought for the Right to Vote” which opens on Friday, January 24, 2020, and runs through June 30, 2020. There will be a free opening reception on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 6-8 pm in the historic History and Literary Arts (HLA) Building on the NHCC campus, where the exhibit is on display. Friday, January 24, 2020 6 pm Join us for the opening of “El Voto Femenino: Sufragistas Latinas luchando por el derecho al voto. Celebrating Hispanic Women’s Suffrage Worldwide”. This exhibit, which will run from January 24 through June 30. Travel the Hispanic World this New Year’s Eve!

Noon - 2 pm Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the National Hispanic Cultural Center by touring 12 stations with interactive activities. Each station celebrates New Year’s Eve with a different tradition from a different country. In Brazil, eat seven raisins. In Mexico, pocket a handful of lentils. In Spain, eat 12 grapes and make 12 wishes. Tear up your 2019 calendars in Uruguay. In Colombia, create a little suitcase to celebrate adventures to come–and so much more! Who We Are, Together: NM Families Project Presentation for Martinez and Tafoya

2-4 pm This project engaged 2-3 generations of seven NM families in testing their DNA and researching their family lineage with the help of the NHCC and experts in the field. For seven Sundays these families will present what they learned about who they are, where they are, where they came from, and from whom they descend, followed by dialogue.
