6 pm — 10 pm Announcing the launch of a new summer music and dance series in the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s enchanting Fountain Courtyard, presented in partnership with Melaza Music. AMP Concerts Presents Over the Rhine (Rental)

7:30 pm Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, named to Paste magazine’s list of 100 Best Living Songwriters, began performing together in 1990 in local Cincinnati clubs and gathering places. Flamenco en la Voz de Cervantes: Miguel de Cervantes Celebration with Fernando Barros Lirola and Company

Pre-show reading—6 pm Performance—7 pm Commemorate the 400th anniversary of Miguel de Cervantes’ death with a special flamenco recital, performed by singer and composer Fernando Barros Lirola and his company. The performance will combine music and dance in an exploration of Cervantes’ major work, Don Quixote, and a tribute to the flamenco tradition, one of the most revered in Spanish culture. School Day Event: The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment

10 am Festival Ballet Albuquerque and the NHCC, with choreography by Patricia Dickinson Wells, present The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment. This beloved holiday classic comes to life in the late 1800s in territorial New Mexico, with many surprises including Spanish and flamenco dancers, dancing southwestern snakes, sheep and shepherdesses, hummingbirds, a lively fandango, and a storyteller doll with children. Traditional favorites such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snowflakes, and Flowers are also preserved in all their splendor, while beautiful sets, lavish western Victorian-era costumes (more…)

REZILIENCE 2016—Indigenous Arts Experience

9 am—Gates Open 5 pm—Main Concert REZILIENCE—Indigenous Arts Experience is an immersive, all-ages experience that focuses on modern Indigenous art processes. Artists include both nationally and locally recognized entertainers, muralists, multimedia artists, and poets. More than sixty Indigenous artists and art-related professionals representing the U.S., Canada, and Latin America will participate during the full-day event, sharing their talents, skills, and knowledge in eight creative arenas.
