Film: Contemporáneos en línea: La reconquista/The Reconquest

8 pm (available for 48 hours)
Instituto Cervantes Vimeo Channel: https://vimeo.com/institutocervantes

Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque presents Contemporáneos en línea, an online showcase of recent work by young, independent Spanish filmmakers. The program brings together two feature films and two documentaries, demonstrating the creative coexistence of these genres in contemporary cinematography. It is presented in collaboration with the National Hispanic Cultural Center as part of the Bank of America Free Film Series.

In La reconquista, Manuela and Olmo find each other again in a future they promised each other 15 years earlier, when they were teenagers and first fell in love. Based on this romantic premise, La Reconquista is a film in search of time—about the consciousness of time, about lost time and recovered time, about what we remember and don’t remember about ourselves, and about the words, gestures, and feelings to which we remain faithful because they define and challenge us in the present, the past, and the future. 2016; directed by Jonás Trueba; Spanish with English subtitles; 103 minutes; rated PG-13.
