10:00 – 10:45 am Our popular Early Childhood program is returning with a new name in 2024! Arte para chiquitos is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC Museum, Performing Arts Center, and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. Día de Familia: Día de los Muertos

11:00 am – 3:00 pm Join us for a special day commemorating Día de los Muertos traditions. Decorate a sugar skull, craft papel picado and paper flowers, get your face painted, and contribute to our community ofrenda. Free Community Event, generously supported by NM Gas.

Acequia Revitalization Project: Community Tile-Making Workshop

11:00 am to 3:00 pm Want to help make our public spaces more beautiful? Join artist Reyes Padilla and the mosaic group ALMA at the Center for a chance to create a tile that will be incorporated into our Acequia revitalization project!   Supplies will be provided. Free Community Event, in collaboration with the NHCC Foundation and New Mexico Arts. 

Día de Familia: Día de los Muertos

Vamos al Museo: Family Art Workshop

10:30 am ¡Vamos al Museo! is a morning of artmaking for children of all ages and families of all sizes. A visit to the museum is included in this artist-led workshop. We will meet in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Building. 1st Annual National Hispanic Cultural Center History Festival

In 2020, we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the completion of the famous buon fresco, Mundos de Mestizaje, created by Frederico Vigil in the National Hispanic Cultural Center Torreón. The first annual NHCC History Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, February 21-22, 2020, and we invite you to join us celebrating Hispanic and Latinx history with this year’s theme, “Mundos de Mestizaje.”All festival events will respond to and engage with the fresco, allowing us to explore Hispanic/Latinx history through the cross-cultural, transnational, and multidisciplinary influences (more…)
