Opening Reception: Fantasía Fantástica: Imaginative Spaces and Other Worldly Collage

Opening Reception: Outstanding in His Field: San Ysidro—Patron Saint of Farmers

6 pm to 8 pm Each spring, New Mexico communities celebrate San Ysidro (aka San Isidro or Saint Isidore) the patron saint of farmers, gardeners, and workers. San Ysidro blesses the fields, brings rain and discourages drought, and assures a healthy growing season for local crops such as chile, beans, corn and squash. Día de los Muertos: Despedida

5 pm - 7 pm Free Community Event The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida (Farewell) to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry, and hands-on art at this time-honored community gathering. This is a great event for all ages. Tour the ofrendas around the NHCC campus and enjoy music, poetry, traditional hot chocolate mexicano, pan de muerto, and the sharing of heartfelt memories. 9:00 am Come early to check in Join RunFit and the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) Foundation for the 1st Annual Cinco de Mayo Run. Participants can choose from the 10K Run, 5K Run or Walk, or Kids K. After the run, stick around for free entertainment for the whole family.
