A Vision of History through Fresco…

Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America.

The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a sharing and learning experience for students and families anywhere. We invite you to explore the imagery, history and complexities of the Mundos de Mestizaje mural.

March 2020

¡HAH! Happy Arte Hour 2020

6- 8 pm (new time!)

This year, in the spirit of the NHCC’s 20th Anniversary, we have invited back some of the artists that have contributed to the success of Happy Arte Hour over the years. Many of these artists were part of past exhibitions or have pieces of art in our permanent collection.

On the first Thursday of the month, NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting, which includes snacks, refreshments, and beer & wine for sale from Pop Fizz. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out, a unique date night option, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts.

On March 5, Micaela Seidel will join us again for collage!

Please pre-register HERE (so we know how many materials to prepare). Registration for the following month is available the day after the current program month.

For more information please call or email Elena Baca at 505-246-2261 or ElenaD.Baca@state.nm.us

Free, $5+ donations are encouraged to support the artists & purchase supplies
